Director

Kurt Ala-Kantti has been Music Director of the Cumberland Community Singers beginning Spring of 2005.

He is also the founder and Artistic Director of the Harmonia Choir of Ottawa , a choir he started in 2003 to promote and perform the music of Canadian and local composers in addition to traditional choral music, Director of the Concert Choir, and Boys Choir of the Ottawa Children's Choir, and is Director of Music at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church. In the past, he has served for several years as Assistant-Director of the Ottawa Regional Youth Choir, directed by Dr. Barbara Clark, was Director of their Young Men’s Chorus, was Artistic Director of the Cross Town Youth Chorus, Choirmaster at St Mark's Cumberland, and has served as Director of the Atlantic Voices, Tone Cluster and the Ottawa Brahms Choir. In 2014 he served as the Artistic Director of the National Choral Festival "Unison Festival/Festival Unisson", a gathering of 19 choirs from coast to coast in Ottawa.

With a keen interest in choral performance and excellence, he has been a member of several local choirs including the Ottawa Regional Youth Choir, under Dr. Barbara Clark, the Ottawa Choral Society, under Brian Law, sang professionally as a member of the critically acclaimed and Juno Award winning Ottawa Bach Choir, and continues to sing in the "Dicken's Carollers".

In demand as a guest clinician and conductor, he has presented workshops across the Ottawa-Gatineau region for high schools, community choirs, and church choirs.
